For local area assisted living residents
Wheaton Drama would like to invite assisted living
residents to attend our Thursday night final dress rehearsals as our
guests for the 2006-2007 Season. We are delighted in offering this to
the greater Wheaton area homes and services through our Community
Outreach program.
Listed below are the productions and dates of the dress rehearsals.
Please contact the Wheaton Drama Education and Outreach
Governor to RSVP with the number of people attending from your group for
each show. Please let us know by the Tuesday before the performance
how many will attend and what their seating needs will be. There is
room for up to 25 wheelchairs, and an additional 150 permanent theater
seats.
Wheaton Drama will make every effort to accommodate everyone
who wishes to attend, but the seats are offered on a first come,
first served basis. If we do not have appropriate seating for your
group at the time you RSVP, we will make sure you are given first
consideration for the following production.
These are full length
shows and many will end after 10:00 PM. Your group is welcome to
stay for the entire performance, but if necessary, they may leave
at intermission.
If there is any change in the dates or start times of the performances,
you will be notified at least a week in advance.

A Christmas Story
A play by Jean Shepherd
Humorist Jean Shepherd's memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself, at Goldblatt's Department Store. All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family's temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys' experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie's father winning a lamp shaped like a woman's leg in a net stocking; Ralphie's fantasy scenarios and more.

I Hate Hamlet
A play by Paul Rudnick
A young and successful television actor relocates to New York, where he rents a marvelous, gothic apartment. With his television career in limbo, the actor is offered the opportunity to play Hamlet onstage, but there's one problem: He hates Hamlet. His dilemma deepens with the entrance of John Barrymore's ghost, who arrives intoxicated and in full costume to the apartment that once was his. The contrast between the two actors, the towering, dissipated Barrymore whose Hamlet was the greatest of his time, and Andrew Rally, hot young television star, leads to a wildly funny duel over women, art, success, duty, television, and yes, the apartment.
March 28 - April 20
A Few Good Men
A play by Aaron Sorkin
This Broadway hit about the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay sizzles on stage. The Navy lawyer, a callow young man more interested in softball games than the case, expects a plea bargain and a cover up of what really happened. Prodded by a female member of his defense team, the lawyer eventually makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.
