Wheaton Drama invites you to audition for Still Alice, adapted by Christine Mary Dunford from the book by Lisa Genova. This is a heartbreaking and hopeful story of a university professor at the height of her career who is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Fiercely independent, with a husband and two children, Alice strives to make sense of her changing world as her memory begins to falter. Seeking men and women, ranging in age from 20s – 50s. Open Call. All roles are open, and no appointment is necessary. Actors will be seen in order of arrival. All ethnicities and genders welcome. Auditions will consist of cold readings. Headshot and resume are optional.
Directed by Sean Hargadon. There is no pay. The production will be presented by Wheaton Drama, Inc. at 111 N. Hale Street, Wheaton, IL 60187.

Fifty years old. Cognitive psychology professor at Harvard University. Driven. Ambitious. Practical. Serious but with a sense of humor. Committed to her work, respected in her field. About to be diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Can hear and talk with Herself. - Herself
Herself and Alice are the same person in two bodies. She is Alice’s inner thoughts. - John
Alice’s husband. A biology/research professor at Harvard University. Brilliant. Outgoing and friendly. Ambitious. Comforted in research, facts, and action. Committed to his research. - Thomas
Son of Alice and John. Twenties. Attorney. Little self-focused. Married and trying to have a child. - Lydia
Daughter of Alice and John. Twenties. Artist/actor. Brilliant but not interested in traditional education. - Dr. Tamara
Alice’s doctor for many years. (Also plays Beth). - Dr. Davis
Neurologist. Specializes in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. (Also plays Dan).
Key Dates
- Initial Read-through: Late November, to be scheduled based on cast availability.
- Rehearsals: Four/five rehearsals per week throughout January at the theater.
- Tech Week: Sunday, January 26 – Thursday, January 30, 2025.
- Performance Dates: The show runs January 31 – February 16, 2025. Evening performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Matinees on Sundays at 2:00 pm.
