Wheaton Drama, Inc. Announces Auditions for Into The Breeches

It’s 1942. A community theater’s Director and leading men are off at war with the Axis powers. In their absence, the Director’s wife decides to produce an all-female version of Shakespeare’s Henriad, and casts an unexpected team of willing, if inexperienced, performers.

• Sun 11/8/26  6:00-9:30pm – Wheaton Drama Main Stage
• Mon 11/9/26 6:00-9:30pm – Wheaton Drama Lower Level

10-minute audition slots will consist of readings from the script. Reading partners will be provided. 

Callbacks by invitation only:
Wed 11/11/26 – 6:00-9:30pm – Wheaton Drama Lower Level

Callbacks will consist of readings and/or monologues from the show (scripts will be made available for both). You may also be asked to read a Shakespeare monologue that is not part of the show. Details will be sent when you are notified about a callback.

  Conservative board president of the Playhouse; tough with everyone but his wife

  Age: fifties
  untalented, enthusiastic socialite; think: “Aunt Clara” from Bewitched, but at times quite with it
  also plays Falstaff (including as Groucho Marx)
• Stuart Lasker
  White Male, gay
  Age: forties
  The quip-ready Stage Manager, steps up in the pinch
  also plays Mistress Quickly

  African-American Female
  Age: thirties
  the imaginative costume designer, exemplifies “Yes, we can”

Ages are stage, not actor ages. All actors appear in clothing of the opposite gender.
