STUDENTS “ACTING IT UP” AT WHEATON DRAMA

Kids Acting 101
 

A six-week workshop designed to strengthen the acting “muscle” for students in grades 1 through 5. Through acting games and exercises, students will work on a different aspect of acting technique each week such as movement, voice, characterization, pantomime, and others. Teamwork, focus, and listening are added benefits in this acting workshop.  All sessions will be on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 – 4:45.

Dates: 10/16, 10/23. 10/30. 11/6, 11/13, 11/20

Cost: $75 per student
Winter/Spring Workshop
 
Adventure to Oz: A Wizard of Oz Children’s Play Adaptation
 

An eleven-week workshop designed to give students the opportunity to present, preform, and create a mini showcase of an original play.  Students will be cast in different roles in the production and learn the needed skills to present the final production to parents and guests at the end of the session during a Wheaton Drama General Meeting.

Grades 3 through 9.
All sessions but the final dress rehearsal and performance will be on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 – 4:45.

2026 workshop dates: Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26, March 5, 12, 19
Dress Rehearsal: Monday, March 23 – 4:00 – 4:45
Performance: Tuesday, March 24 (meeting at 7:00; performance immediately following the end of the meeting)

Cost: $135 per student

Our afterschool classes are taught by Rachelle Kates.  Rachelle has been involved in Wheaton Drama’s youth education program for over 7 years. By day, she teaches music, and by night, for over 20 years, Rachelle has been an actress performing on stage, a director, and involved on creative teams. She has appeared on our stage several times over the years.

Note: Classes are subject to change based on enrollment. Registration for each class will be open at least one month before the class begins. If there are not enough students enrolled in the class, it may be canceled. Notification of a canceled class will be sent out the weekend prior to the start of class and all money will be refunded.  All decisions will be made the Sunday before the class starts and communicated to families ASAP.
